The Azusa Pacific University (APU) extended its existing three node MediorNet system with two additional nodes in order to distribute all of its signals via Riedel Communicationsí MediorNet. Riedel installed the first MediorNet system at APU just over a year ago.
With the integration of the FoH and the stage box, two new positions were included in the MediorNet infrastructure. The FoH MediorNet frame transports three Artist digital matrix intercom panels, two data networks and one ARTNET lighting network to both the stage and the control room. The MediorNet frame at the stage box offers eight HD/SDI video outputs and four HD/SDI video inputs for use with the projection and video screens on stage. This node also features connections for two Artist digital matrix control panels and the ARTNET lighting network.
"MediorNet has an enormous amount of flexibility, especially when it comes to routing various signal types to different locations. This was an extremely important reason for us to expand our existing MediorNet system. The ability to reroute signals and change setups quickly is a huge asset to us. Additionally, distributing our ARTNET system over the same infrastructure saves us lots of time and effort when dealing with new situations, and as far as Iím aware, this is the first integration of ARTNET. Iím really pleased with how well all the components of the system work together," said Mark Montgomery, Production Engineer at APU.
The installation also provides a trunked connection via fiber for RockNet between the floor of the arena and the control room. In addition, Azusaís digital Yamaha PM5D mixing console is equipped with a RockNet interface card allowing all inputs and outputs of the digital audio network to be controlled via the Yamaha mixing desk.
